Two female suicide bombers suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect detonated a bomb in Damaturu the capital city of Yobe state at around 8am this morning.
Recent reports filtering in put the number of casualties at well over 30.
The bomb detonation occurred at an Eid-prayer ground in a part of Damaturu called Phase 1 along Maiduguri Road which is not more than two kilometers away from the Yobe Mosque. The suspected bombers are said to be little girls between the ages of 10 and 11, according to eyewitnesses and local security sources.
A witness at the scene said two girls tried to gain access to the Eid prayer ground from different entry points and had to pass through security check. The first girl was being screened just when the blast happened and shortly after that, another one went off from a little girl about the age of 11years.
