Superstar Rapper, Kanye West Receives Honorary Doctorate Degree In Chicago

Kanye West has certainly gone from college dropout to a Ph.D.  The rapper who quit college at the age of 20 to focus on his music career by calling his first album, 'The College Dropout' received an honorary doctoral degree on May 11 at the School of the Art institute of Chicago (SAIC). 


Lisa Wainwright, Dean of Faculty at the SAIC explained they chose to award the honorary degree to Kanye after reading an article where he said he wished he had attended the school.

He was recognised for "transformative, genre-defying work" at a ceremony held within the school's premises. The obviously elated superstar rapper had this to say while receiving his degree;

"I am a pop artist. So my medium is puplic opinion and the world is my canvas. I don't feel that feeling a lot, the nerves of humility and modesty when being honoured. A humanisation, a reality of being recognised. And all I thought as I sit here kind of shaking a little bit is "I need to get rid of that feeling." 

Kim Kardashian, who is currently in Brazil attending to business enthusiastically congratulated her husband for the milestone attained with the Instagram post below.
